I've had this cordless vacuum for about three months now and am happy with the purchase despite the price of almost $200. The canister was a little sticky to open the first and second time i emptied it but with continued use it opens freely. So far here are the pros and cons:
cons:
If something is clogging the lower part or if you need to remove the roller to cut off accumulated hair wrapped around the brush unit there are (I think) 7 screws to remove. It's not rocket science just inconvenient.
For some reason cat litter does not want to go up in the canister.
pros:
Great for stairs. After getting this product i keep up on the stair cleaning a LOT more. This is not a replacement for a full sized vacuum but lets you keep up enough to look presentable.
I have 1 and a half by 4 foot rugs by the entry doors and this helps spruce them up without having to get out the full sized vac all the time.
Keeps the dust and pet fur off the hard wood floor and kitchen and bath floors.

Other posters have complained about battery life. I think it states somewhere in the instructions that battery life is 15 to twenty mins. The battery is relatively small because a bigger lithium battery would be something like a power saw battery. This is something to use for a quick clean up. It's not the deep cleaning, let's get the house spring cleaned vacuum.
All said I get plenty of use out of it and would recommend this especially for pet owners and folks with hard wood floors.

Hoover Platinum Collection Linx Cordless Stick Vacuum
This is the best cordless vacuum I have ever used. It gets up all the pet hair, even on the thick carpet. I was worried at first with some of the reviews claiming poor battery life. After using it I had no worries. I got around 15 minutes of run time. that's pretty good. I have a cordless lithium drill and only get about half that. I love the dirt cup, no filter to shake off just to empty it, only the washing and drying of the top filter every now and then. I would like to get aother battery just to do some hard core cleaning but they don't make a multi-bay charger.

For years I have been searching for the perfect "every day" vacuum. I have a Dyson that is great for weekly cleaning and heavy-duty jobs, but it seemed like overkill for the everyday stuff. We have a tile kitchen floor and lots of hardwood, plus a couple of area rugs here and there. With two kids and a dog, it has been a constant battle trying to keep up with the dog hair, the dust bunnies and the dirt that gets clomped out of baseball cleats near the kitchen door. I have a Swiffer, 2 different Roombas, a Shark, and a Hoover Flair, all of which I really love for different reasons, but they all fell short of being THE vacuum for me for constant use. I have a very bad back and two bad knees, so anything requiring me to bend over (cords), place back on a charger, unplug, get on the floor to empty, etc. was pretty hard on me. I'm embarrassed to say, it often just didn't get done and we frequently just lived with dust bunnies until I would get disgusted and do it the old fashioned way, with a broom and dustpan.

A few weeks ago, I saw the commercial for the Hoover Linx on TV. I don't usually pay much attention to paid ads anymore, but my ongoing quest for a vacuum compelled me to check the reviews on Amazon. I pulled the trigger on buying it just before going on vacation and literally couldn't wait to get home to try it, which I realize is a little nuts.

It took less than 5 minutes to peruse the instructions and assemble the 3 pieces. Once the battery was charged, I took it for a spin and was sold before I even finished the kitchen. This thing is great! As everyone else has said, the suction is top-notch. The battery does begin draining fairly quickly, but this is of no consequence to me. I move quickly, I'm able to get through my kitchen, living room, front hall, tiny powder room and large family room and haven't had it run out on me yet, although by the time I'm finished the battery is down to 1 bar.

To me, the best part about this vacuum are how easy it is to use and how everything on the vacuum is within easy reach for someone like me with a back problem. The battery is fairly high up, as is the power switch. Yes, I have to bend down to empty the container, but if my back is really bothering me, it's light enough to hoist it onto a stool to more easily reach it. Because it's SO easy to use, I'm using it constantly. It is ALMOST fun to vacuum now! And because I'm using it daily, if not a couple of times a day (since it's as easy to grab as a Dust Buster), the dirt doesn't stand a chance -- it never has time to build up. The weekly Dyson may only need to make an appearance every 2 weeks now, and even then, only to get the upholstery and under some furniture that the Linx can't quite reach.

I've moved the heavier Hoover Flair upstairs to use in the bedrooms, but to be honest, I'm thinking about buying a 2nd Linx. It's wonderful not to be tethered to a cord and have to stop, unplug, plug in at another location, etc.

In my opinion this is truly a ground-breaking vacuum. I have to imagine that cordless vacuums will only improve, although this one would be hard to beat except to extend the battery life. I'm a very happy customer.

I have had the this product for about two months now. I love it! We have 1500 sq feet of laminate/tile floors that I clean twice or three times a week. The vacuum does great work picking up the dirt, the dust, and the dog hair from our 4 dogs. I only have two complaints. The battery life can be a little short a times, I can usually clean the entire downstairs on one charge if I do not use the roller much. My second complaint is the size of the dirt basket, I usually have to empty it two or three times, depending on the amount of dog hair.

I have 4 large, medium hair and 1 long hair dog. Dogs stay in and out via a doggie door. Lots of hair accumulation all over including corners. I have hardwood floor with thick area rugs. This stick will pick up dog hair on the rugs like an electric vacuum, better than my shark. It goes to the floor from carpet very easily with a push of a button. The weight is fantastic and the empting of the canister is so easy. The power of the battery will last long enough to do the front of my house, aprox. 950 sq feet so I purchased an additional battery for the back, same sq feet, so I do not have to wait on the charge. However, the 3 hour charge time is nothing if you are not as anxious as I. I like the power and suction so much that I purchased the lightweight bag upright on line, can not wait for delivery.

Bought this vac about a month ago. It has truly amazing power. I live in a three story townhouse and lugging the full sized vacuum up and down the stairs is a drag. With this little powerhouse, I vacuum every day and have even contemplated replacing the full sized Hoover wind tunnel entirely. I haven't had any problems with the battery life--I can vacuum the kitchen, dining room and living room on a fully charged battery. That being said I wouldn't mind having a second battery for times when I want to do a little extra.

We're older than dirt; so, I wanted a much lighter vacuum that I might actually use. I bought this one because it could be used on area rugs as well as wood or tile floors. This vacuum is great, especially the swivel head. You can reach all kinds of tight spots with it. I just bought a second battery ($69) to supplement the 15 minute battery life. On the other hand, because the width of the vacuum is pretty small, it's easier to dust mop first, then vacuum the trouble areas. It's just a little too small to cover the entire house (2300 ft.-all wood or tile). However, the vacuum has good suction; it will pick up all the scattered cat food and cat hair. It's easy to empty and we are much more likely to use it. We're giving away all our other "big" vacuums.

Finally a cordless small vac that works as it should. Very pleased with this product.

Great Vacuum, does a great job of cleaning floors without the hassel of dragging a wire behind you.
