If raised panel doors are what you want this router for look no farther. Soft Pine or Hard Rock Maple this baby wont even slow down. I used to take 3 passes with my 2 horse, now it is all hoged off in one pass. Love that speed control!! Kinda heavy for hand work, but on a router table its the best!!

I bought this to make tongue and groove flooring. The material is 3/4" Red Oak. I've cut about 1500 linear feet on the tongue side and of course the same amount on the groove side.

This router will cut it as fast as I can feed it, and never even gets warm. Extremely fine adjustment is possible with the large knob on he top. It's easy to drop the router motor out of the mounting assembly for easy change of bits.

It runs smoother and quieter than either of the other 2 routers I have at 10K rpm. I've not used it at the highest speed yet. I dialed it up to 13K to cut the tongue side, and it got louder, but was still better balanced than my other routers.

It only comes with 1/2" collett, no matter what you're told by salesman. I was told it came with both, but Milwaukee confirms that it's only sold with the 1/2" collett.

My husband was thrilled with this Router, he has been looking at this product for quite some time and when I saw it on Amazon.com for the price listed I too was excited. Could not touch this Router for under $500.00 in retail stores or on other websites. The price caught my eye, and it was a great Xmas gift.

I purchased this router to work on long, spruce aircraft spars. I have at least 4 other routers in my shop for various jobs but I needed one with more power, for hogging out deep areas of fine grain. This router did a great job. It is very smooth in starting up and spinning up to speed. The bit height adjustment is much easier and more accurate than my Porter-Cabell router that I had been using for this task. The handles remove, easily and quickly for using on pattern work. All around I would say this is an excellent tool.

I bought this router about a year and a half ago. It arrived with a 1/4 inch collet only. Had to reorder the 1/2 inch collet. I mounted it in a table for to make raised panel doors for a kitchen project that had 44 drawers and door fronts to be made from Lyptus. The router has good power and handled this job well. However, the above-table height adjustment mechanism would not raise the router after about one hour of use. I went to the local Milwaukee repair shop and they said they would have to send it to the factory for repair and it would take two weeks. Four weeks later I get the router back with the factory claiming there is nothing wrong with it and it is working as designed. In my opinion, the plastic parts of the raising mechanism are not able to raise the router motor if there is any additional friction between the base and the motor. So, when wood dust gets between the base and the motor it creates enough friction to disable the raising mechanism (lowering works fine). I don't think having to take the motor out of the base to wipe off the dust every fifth time I want to raise it is reasonable. I selected this model in large part because I would not have to buy a router lift. Looks like I may have to buy one anyway.

When I got near the end of the project I noticed the router squeaking at very low rpms upon shutdown. I took it apart and cleaned out the dust as best as I could but the squeak came back shortly afterward. Bearing going out? We'll see.

I recommend this router because it has the power to cut hardwoods with large diameter bits. Five year warranty is good too, but be aware your local repair shop will probably have to send it to the factory for service creating a very long down time. Don't buy this router for the "above the table" lift feature.

I was shopping for a Porter Cable 7518. I happened to run into the Milwaukee 5625-20 and it turns out to be a near clone of the PC, but with a few superior features. #1 is true variable speeds, rather than 5 speeds with the PC. #2 is a far superior system for raising and lowering the router in a router table. The PC 7518 motor screws up or down in a track that jams up with sawdust, while the height adjustment of the Milwaukee can be done above the table and the clamp is a lever, rather than a nasty, hard to operate screw. To change bits, I unlock the lever, push the screw release button and drop the motor out of the base. Add two substantial machined wrenches instead of the tacky stamped sheet steel wrenches that Porter Cable provides and you have a near perfect router for under table use.

My only complaint is the lack of dust control. By the time you've milled all the pieces for a frame and panel passage door you will be up to your ankles in sawdust.

Strong, powerhouse router that really works well in a table. I had one problem & that's the plastic catch that keeps the router from slipping on its' lift gear. It broke (under warranty) & it turns out that was a common problem. It was repaired & hopefully won't happen again. It does seem to me that a router that's touted to be as heavy duty as they're saying would not have that type of mickey mouse mechanical problem. One month to get it back from the repair station by the way.

Received ordered item quickly, installed in router table, operates with more than enough power, is quiet, smooth, sturdy. A great choice.

I selected this as a dedicated router table tool since neither of my two PC routers fit the bill, one not being variable speed, the other being a plunge mount which I do not trust in a router table. I find the Milwaukee smooth-starting, just the right heft with good handle control, and very amply powered. I'll probably pull it out of the table mounting plate whenever I resort to any heavy duty hand-held routing as well. One improvement Milwaukee could have made is to provide a longer shaft or travel within the mount so that bits could be changed from above the table...or at least provide off-set collet wrenches to reach below without having to lift the router/mount from the table to do so. Also, Amazon provides the unit only with the 1/2" collet, whereas both collets are included with the unit at a local tool store I frequent.

I bought the Milwaukee router for use as a dedicated table machine. I've mounted it with a woodpeckers lift and consider it a cadillac operation. The router gives plenty of power for all table operations, including raised panels and its controls/adjustments work well, something I can't say for the Hitachi I owned.

Like others, there was a problem with the on/off switch, but a replacemnt from the service center (under warrenty, at no charge) has taken care of that. You can tell just by the sound of the machine that it is one high quality unit.
